How to Create Account
Use one of the methods below to create your account.
- Fill out the Computing Accounts Request Form (http://www.uky.edu/IT/CustomerService/authoriz.pdf). The form should be signed by an official Security Liaison of your college/department. The form must be delivered or faxed (859 257-9374) to the IT Customer Service Center.
- An email request sent to the CSC's Accounts team (accounts@lsv.uky.edu) by an official Security Liaison of your college/department.
Rules for Passwords
Passwords created for this account must follow these rules:
- Must have a minimum of 6 characters.
- Cannot be more than 128 characters
- Must have at lest one non-lower-alpha character
- Password cannot be same as userID.
- Passwords are case sensitive.
- Passwords will expire every 6 months.
How to Change Your Password
Follow the instructions below to change your current password. If you have forgotten your password, you will need to have it reset.
- Using an SSH client (such as PuTTY) login to the WWW server (www.uky.edu) using your current password.
- In the command prompt, type in passwd and hit Enter.
- Enter in your current password and new password when prompted.
How to Reset Your Password
If you need your password reset:
- Fill out the Computing Accounts Request Form (http://www.uky.edu/IT/CustomerService/authoriz.pdf).
- You can sign the form yourself to reset the password if you bring the form in person to 111 McVey Hall along with a PhotoID.

- The form can be faxed to the IT Customer Service Center at (859) 257-9374 if the form is signed an official Security Liaison of your college/department.
- An email request sent to the CSC's Accounts team (accounts@lsv.uky.edu) from your UK email account, or by an official Security Liaison of your college/department.
