Create an Announcement

 
1. Make sure you are in the course you would like to work in.

2. Verify the Edit Mode is set to ON. 

3. Either click on Announcements in your Course Menu (upper left) or click on Course Tools in the Control Panel (the lower left of your page) and select Announcements from the Course Tools menu. 

 

4. Select the blue Create Announcement button near the top of the page and the Create Announcement page will pop up. 
 
5. Enter the subject of the announcement, which will appear as the title.
 
6. Enter the Message of the announcement, you can either type directly or copy/paste text that you have already created.
 
 
7. If needed, set as Date Restricted, under which you can choose to Display the Announcement after a certain date and Display it until a certain date or Not Date Restricted, in which it is automatically displayed and has no end date.
 
8. To immediately email this announcement to all users in your course, even those who have opted not to receive announcement notifications through email, check the 'Send a copy of this announcement immediately' box in the Web Announcement Options Section.  If you have chosen Duration dates, do not check this box - your announcement will send out when the 'Display After' date is reached.
 
9. If needed, add a course link to the announcement by selecting Browse in the Course Link Section and locating the content to which you want to link.  Note: If this content is not available to be viewed by the students, it will not show up in the announcement. 
 
10. Select Submit to finish. 
 
 
View an Announcement
 
You can view announcements for all of your courses (both that you are teaching and in which you are enrolled).
 
1. Log in to Blackboard
 
2. From the MyBb tab, find the Tools module. 
 
3. Select Announcements in the Tools module on your My Bb page. 
 
4. This will open a new page, in which you can search by courses, organizations, etc. to find all your announcements.
 
 
You can also view the Announcements within a particular course.
 
1. Go to the Control Panel and select Course Tools.
 
2. Click on Announcements.

1. Within the course menu, click on the Tools page.
 
2. From the Tools page, select Announcements.
 
Edit an Announcement
 
1. Make sure that you are in the course in which you would like to work.
 
2. Verify the Edit Mode is set to ON. 
 
3. Click on either Announcements within the Course Menu (upper left) or click on Course Tools in the Control Panel (the lower left of your page) and select Announcements from the Course Tools menu. 
 
4. Browse to find the announcement that you would like to modify and click on the Action Link menu next to the title of the announcement (a down-facing arrow) and select Edit
 
 
5. Enter the subject of the announcement, which will appear as the title.

6. Enter the Message of the announcement, you can either type directly or copy/paste text that you have already created.

7. If needed, set as Date Restricted, under which you can choose to Display the Announcement after a certain date and Display it until a certain date or Not Date Restricted, in which it is automatically displayed and has no end date.

8. Delete an Announcement

1. To delete an announcement, first make sure you are in the course you would like to work in and that you have the Edit Mode set to ON. 
 
2. Next, click on Course Tools in the Control Panel (the lower left of your page) and select Announcements from the Course Tools menu. 
 
3. Once in the Announcements page, scroll to find the announcement that you would like to remove, click on the Action Link menu next to the title of the announcement (a down-facing arrow) and select Delete
 
4. A window will pop up asking you to confirm your choice: The action is final and cannot be undone.  Delete this item?  Select OK to delete the announcement.
