***Updated Fall 2012***
SafeAssign accepts files in .doc, .docx, .odt, .txt, .rtf, .pdf, and .html file formats only. The preferred formats are .doc and .docx, with a 10 MB size limit. Be sure to make your students aware of the preferred formats and file size within the instruction/description section of the SafeAssignment.
1. Begin by selecting a content area of your choice from the Course Menu. For this example we’ll choose the Assignments content area.
2. On the next page, mouse over the Create Assessment button and select SafeAssignment from the drop-down menu.
3. In the Enter Information section:
a. Type a name for the SafeAssignment in the Name box.
b. Type the number of points possible in the Points Possible box.
c. In the Instructions box, describe what you want your students to do for the assignment. (This is where you can include information about format and size.)
d. If you are ready for the students to see the assignment select Yes for Make the assessment available.
e. If you want to see how many times students view the assignment, check the Track Number of Views box.
f. If you want the assignment to be available only during a certain date range, you can enter these dates in the Availability Dates space. You can also set only a start date or only an end date.
g. Checking the Draft box allows students to validate their paper without submitting it to the institutional database. This will create an SA Report for the paper checking against outside sourced plagiarism, without affecting their final SA Report.
h. Checking the Urgent Checking box sets papers to a high priority in the Grade Center “Needs Grading” queue.
i. You can allow the student to access their results by selecting Yes for Student Viewable.
