Echo360 personal capture is available for download from download.uky.edu. For Personal Capture training, please contact Kirk Laird at Kirk.Laird@uky.edu.
Instructors who would like to request publishing to the Echo360 streaming server may contact the Help Desk to request Echo360 publishing and provide their First Name, Middle Name, and Last Name as well as UK email address, and login ID. The Publish feature is required to convert your presentation to an Echo 360 user interface . Your department IT individuals will need to create a "course" on the Echo server before you can fully publish content.Department IT Echo360 training required for Personal Capture publishing. Faculty are responsible for backing up and saving their content, Echo 360 server content will be deleted 2 weeks after the end of each semester. View PDF resource here.
To create files with Echo360 personal capture, you will need the following:
- Windows XP SP2 or Later/Windows Vista SP1 or later/ Windows 7/ Intel Mac with OS X (10.5.4)-(10.6.8).
- Required updates for specific Operating Systems (user will be prompted to update these automatically if needed):
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (Windows XP)
- Windows Media Encoder 9 Series (Windows XP)
- Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and its applicable hotfixes (Windows Vista)
- Windows Media Encoder 9 Series Vista hotfix (Windows Vista)
- At least a single core 2.0 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, Network Interface, and 20 GB free hard drive space.
- USB web camera or camera built into the computer (needed only for small PIP box of presenter, if used). [Not supported by personal capture: Mini DV camera and video capture cards; FireWire web cams are limited with personal capture.]
- USB microphone/headset or 1/8” (headphone type connection) microphones for best results, or a built-in mic on a web cam or laptop (not optimal).
- Internet is needed only for upload of final recording. Amount of time uploading depends on length of recording and connection speed.
