Recommended Lync Desktop Phones
VoIP-enabled desktop phones are available with USB and IP connectivity. The phones have the look and feel of the familiar desktop phones but with the added features available such as Lync integration for presence and click to call by being Optimized for Microsoft Lync. These features may include built-in presence information, and functions, including call waiting, caller ID, and call back if busy. Desktop phones are available at various price points.
While there are several other manufacturers and phone models, these are the ones we have found to work best in the University of Kentucky Lync environment.

Aastra 6721ip |
The 6721ip provides a lower cost option for users who still require the benefits of a true IP phone, including dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and message waiting light indicator – but do not require the full UC desktop integration capabilities of the 6725ip. The 6721ip is an ideal selection for Hot-desking applications and common areas, such as lobbies and meeting rooms. This phone can also be used by information workers who primarily need to place and receive calls, access the GAL, and see a message waiting indicator.

The Aastra 6725ip features both a full color 3.5” LCD screen and a separate Unified Communications (UC) presence icon providing direct access to features and presence indications in Lync. Exceptional voice quality is provided through the use of Microsoft audio codecs on both the handset and speakerphone.
