Helpful Information: Web Access

Stay Connected with Communicator Web Access

Have you ever been on a public Internet access or friend's computer and wished you could dash off a quick instant message to a colleague when a protracted email dialog wouldn't do and a phone call was not possible?  Communicator Web Access for Lync allows you to easily do just that.  Simply point the browser to https://cwa.uky.edu and sign in with your Active Directory userid and password (ad\userid or mc\userid).  If you enter your userid and password correctly a popup window will appear (make sure that the browser will allow popups from this site) that looks almost exactly like the Lync client on your desktop.

This web access client is actually the old OCS R2 release of Communicator Web Access.  At this time there is no native Lync 2010 Web Access client for instant messaging and presence. However, this is still a great way to have instant messaging and presence wherever you are without the need for a Lync 2010 client to be installed.

It also works great for non-Windows based machines such as Linux or Apple MacOS.
