Enterprise Voice Features
Use Your UC Deskphone as a PC Audio Device. This feature is available.
You can now answer or place a call via Office Communicator on your PC and use your UC Deskphone as your audio device. The UC Deskphone connects to your PC via an A-to-B USB cable connection. You will need an A-to-B USB cable in order to connect your UC Deskphone to your PC via the USB method. You can switch audio from the UC Deskphone to another USB audio device connected to your PC if you configure two audio devices in the Audio Tuning Wizard. All phone controls, including volume, are handled on the PC in the call window, not on the UC Deskphone.
How do I change my UC Desk Phone ringtone?
You now have the option of changing the ringtone on your UC Desk Phone. To do so:
1. Unlock the touch screen (if needed).
2. Click the Settings tab on the left side of the screen (looks like a cog).
3. Select Ring Tones from the menu.
4. Use the < and > arrows to select the ring tone you desire.
5. Click Play to listen to the ring tone.
6. When you have selected the ring tone you want to use, click OK.
Why doesn't my UC Desk Phone dial my contact when I click on their name on the touch screen?
The layout of the Contacts list on the UC Desk Phone touch screen has been updated. Previously, tapping on a Contact's name would automatically dial that person, and the icon to the right of the Contact's name would open the informational Contact Card.
In response to user feedback, tapping on a Contact's name now opens their Contact Card with a list of their published numbers. Added to the Contact Card is the Last Call field. This field shows the phone number last used to place or receive a call from that contact. Tapping on the Last Call field, or on any of the phone numbers listed, from the Contact Card will automatically dial the number selected.
The icon to the right of the Contact's name has also been modified. It no longer opens the Contact Card. Instead, it is now the Quick Dial button. This button defaults to the Last Call field and will dial whatever phone number was last used to place or receive a call from that contact. The icon itself will change images to indicate which number was last used: Communicator Call, Work, Mobile or Home.
I am using my UC Desk Phone as a PC audio device, and I have my USB headset plugged in as well. Which device will be the default when I answer a call through Communicator and how do I change it?
Whichever device is selected in Communicator on the "Handset or Headset" screen in the Set Up Audio and Video wizard will be the default audio device when placing/receiving calls.
To set up or change the default USB audio device:
1. Open Communicator 2007 R2.
2. Click the drop-down arrow in the upper left-hand corner of the window and select Tools > Set Up Audio and Video.
3. On the Handset or Headset screen, select the audio device from the drop-down menu that you want as the default device, and then click Next.
4. On the Speakerphone/Microphone or Speakerphone screen, select the audio device from the drop-down menu that you want as the secondary device, and then click Next.
5. On the Sounds screen, select the audio device that you would like for your PC/laptop sounds (like music and ringtone). We recommend either a headset or your built-in PC/laptop speakers.
6. Click Finish.
How do I unlock my UC Desk Phone remotely from my desktop?
Your UC Desk Phone must be connected to your PC/laptop via an A-to-B USB cable to utilize this feature. When your UC Desk Phone is connected to your PC/laptop in this manner, your UC Desk Phone will automatically unlock when you unlock your computer.
Note: Your UC Desk Phone will not automatically lock when you lock your computer. You can manually select Lock Phone from the Settings tab (looks like a cog) on the touch screen, or it will automatically lock itself after 15-20 minutes.
I want to connect my UC Desk Phone to my PC to take advantage of the Better Together features, but I don't have many USB ports on my machine. Can I use a USB hub with Better Together?
We do not recommend using a USB hub to connect your UC Desk Phone to your PC for Better Together. We have found that USB hubs introduce some connectivity issues. We recommend connecting your A-to-B USB cable for Better Together directly to your PC/laptop and using your USB hub to connect your other peripheral devices.
